I remember a few years ago everybody thought they was a rapper. My nikka, EVERYBODY. Mixtapes upon mixtape upon mixtape. Everybody had a mixtape back then. The nikka selling loose ones had a mixtape. The genre had become so flooded with rappers/mixtapes it basically made fishing for off the radar talent on those mixtape websites a joke.

It doesn't seem that way to me anymore. These days shyt just seems less congested. I figure its because alot of the allure has subsided with the whole being a rapper thing (money, bytches, cars, etc.). People are now being exposed to the lies, the financial situations for alot of the nikkas they thought was doin it big, etc. and have now set their aspirations on the next lottery ticket level idea.

It could be just me tho, what you think?

Nah, the mixtape game is def still oversaturated.

But i think its going to move away from that slowly.

Fergs album was supposed to be a mixtape, until he decided to release it as an album. And sold 65 k with no prior material out just a few songs.

French Montana just announced hes releasing Mac and cheese 4 as his sophmore album instead of a mixtape.

Honestly, more artists already on or with a movement behind them should be doing this.
