Terrible thread.

NBA has a 76 billion dollar TV deal

MLB has an 800 million dollar contract.

Bottom line
It’s a strange thread

The bball Olympic final game in 2024 drew 23 million on a Sunday afternoon, which was more than the WBC final

But more than anything, I will never understand why people care about TV ratings. It’s weird

The dodgers are more popular than the Lakers in LA. It’s hard to see it if you’re not Latino but it’s true. It’s neck and neck but it’s really Dodger town they were just average for like two generations.
@pete clemenza

Is it true?

I know you Also live in the LA area

American sports landscape rn
1. NFL
2. CFB
3. MLB
4. NBA
5. NHL

Wild thing is college bball is over mlb in alot of the nation

I lived in kansas city before the royals won their world series. Although you saw their gear everywhere no one gave af abt that team. Ku basketball was the biggest draw in the metro by far over anything that wasnt the chiefs. And after that it was other college sports

MLS is definitely growing.

When Etihad Park is complete, that place is gonna be packed every night and will be one of the rare stadiums NYC got right.
It is, but imo I think MLS has a natural ceiling as a sports league because I don’t think it will ever be a top 5 soccer league in the world. Not its fault obviously, it’s only 30 years old. It just shows you how tough it was for the predecessor league like the NASL to succeed here.

It’s only a matter of time before MLS overtakes NHL, and that’s not even taking into consideration when the USL starts regulation in a year or so so the mid-tier and smaller markets will have their fix

And as someone who loves baseball- hell no MLB ain’t more popular now compared to the NBA

With that said, just watch the damn games man.

And it’s still fukk the Yankees

Because we're taught to believe that numbers keep you afloat, not the quality of your product.
All the white media heads that were on a baseball high after the WBC and said their ratings were better than regular season NBA games are now crying about MLB games on different streaming services. Dodgers, Yankees, and the WBC aren't elevating it over the NBA.

I don't wanna hear anyone bytching about where you can watch a game when Americans will willingly ditch their families during the holidays to watch 2 NFL teams they don't even care for on a subscription service.

The real reason why fans hate this shyt is because unlike the NBA and NFL, we don't like national announcers. We prefer our local crews. We're accustomed to how we tune into games with a FOX exception here, a ESPN game there. Now that everyone wants to get in on sports, it's messing it up for everyone else. The biggest issue with older baseball fans is that they don't really mind if the game they love dies with them. Learned that from all the stories of Boomer Yankee fans who moved to Jersey as they got older and wanted the team to move with them, younger fans and Bronx fans be damned. I hate streaming, but everything's for sale now and the NFL showed the way.
