I believe Jurassic Park and T2 hold up well because it's a combination of effects and models/real live set pieces, practical effects. Special effects always look better to me when they are combined with practical.

Godfather is one of the greatest movies of all time. Then against all odds, Godfather 2 also became one of the greatest movies of all time. Godfather 3 is such a drop in quality. Everyone in it minus one person seems bored, the director doesn’t even know why he’s behind the camera other than needing a hit and needing money, and it adds nothing of value to the corleone story.
