Has there ever been a drier, lamer, and wacker singer to "make it" than Musiq Soulchild?

Dude had one of the least interesting voices ever.
Dude had some of the most bizarre and ugly melodies in his songs, e.g. Halfcrazy or Just Friends. :scusthov:
Dude always sang like he was always chasing the beat, always struggling to catch up. :dahell:

Called himself "Music" like he was some kind of eclectic prodigy and all his songs were basic neo soul. :dahell:

Is there anyone?

I think this thread is reach. Soulchild was definitely an average singer at best, but at the same time he made good RnB music. You're right in the sense that he didnt have a "gimmick" or a "hook", and/or market himself as anything in particular...he didnt sell a sexual image, he wasnt an "overweight crooner", a "throwback", nor did he position himself as a high powered RnB megastar. He was just an everyday cat, who sung about everyday issues.

I got no reason to hate the dude. He did a decent job using De La Soul's "B.U.D.D.Y" beat. Not that i still cared for R&B when this track dropped but i was feeling it:yeshrug:
