Has there ever been a genre fall off faster than Disco?

Disco started in the early 70's and lasted until the early-80's. 10 years is 'short'?
I think it was only a top genre for less than 5 years I think 75 is where it picked up and it promptly ended at the start of the 80s. It’s really short compared to almost anything else

Disco is still alive in various subgenres.
Ditto with folk music
Ditto with Jazz

To me this debate depends on what you consider disco

The full blown, stereotypical disco sound probably lasted from 1974 to early 1980 (Rock the Boat to Funkytown) but there was proto disco and post disco.

The 80s dance music (post-disco, high NRG, etc.) was influenced by disco but it's not really the same thing in my opinion.

This isn't something to celebrate with glee or find funny.

Disco took off so fast in popularity it hammered the final nail in Rock n Roll coffin, and subsequently cacs undertook a campaign to discredit Disco and finally killed it.

They were seething with rage yelling racist shyt at anti Disco protests they held :dahell:

shyt lasted like 3 years and never seen the light of day again.:mjlol:

Blues, Jazz, and Hip hop ain never going nowhere. You can always have them on repeat.:wow:
That shyt was fast food music and too early for it's time. It lives on in most dance music tho which took it's place spiritually and in direct lineage plus formula. People just traded disco bands for drum machines

Reggaeton is still huge. Bad Bunny is the world's biggest artist and Latin American pop music is 100% reggaeton now
That shyt is just not reggaeton anymore. They are emulating other forms of modern Black music like trap

That whole genre is the b*stard seed of many Black styles and nationalities. I wouldn't be surprised if more reggaeton started to emulate afro beats.
