Close thread. 1999 too. David Robinson was still doing his thing, but Sean Elliott was :flabbynsick: and they had the worst backcourt to ever win a title: Avery Johnson and an almost 40 Mario Elie.

Nah they had the twin towers in 99 (combined for 35 & 22) so that alone makes them a matchup nightmare.

Silly argument. No player or coach in the history of the game could make Smush Parker look good. How did Timmy turn them into great player? Explain or quit saying that dumb shyt.

Your thread is dumb because Duncan won twice (1999, 2003) with less help than any superstar in my 32 years of life except for Olajuwon in 94 and Dirk in 2011.

29 other teams thought the same of tony parker and manu. which is why nobody picked them in the draft. Considering how good they were (based on your laker logic/ spurs hater logic) its crazy all those teams passed on him right????

I'm not a Spurs hater, I'm actually pulling for them. I respect the organization. But you can't use draft position to gauge potential. That argument is flawed. More of a testament to the Spur's drafting ability.

He won in 1999 with one other once-great player while he was 34 and declining, and the rest of the roster being one of the worst in the league.

Then he won again 2003 with a bunch of role players.

A couple of months ago spurs were gonna.lose in the first round. Then gs was gonna end our run. After that memphis was gonna stop us with their defense. Now its duncan lucky. :heh:

The irony of a laker fan calling someone lucky. How many times has Kobe got lucky with a prime center?

So what you're saying is that a threadstarter in the Coli asked a question and got an answer, but chose to ignore it and continue with his agenda? :ohhh:

Not true. Like others said, parker and ginobili weren't stars when they came to the league. Manu was the 57th pick for god sake!:comeon:

the best thing that Happened to Duncan was playing under a legendary coach and great system. He never faced any coaching or organisation drama like most players did in the league.

As far as having the best teammates, Magic was probably the most fortunate. He won the championship in his rookie year, and played in the finals in his last year in the nba.

Because the basketball HOF isn't restricted to the NBA.

3x NBA champion
2x all star
6th man
2x nba 3rd team
Euroleague MVP
Fiba championship MVP
Italian Cup MVP
2x Italian League MVP
2004 gold medal

So do u think he still makes the HOF if he doesn't ever play in the NBA?

Like others have said in 99 and 03 Tim was surrounded by mediocre players. In 99 David was not the same player that he once was and in 2003 Parker and Ginobili were no where near the players they would become.
