I've honestly never met anyone in purpose with a superior hip-hop knowledge than my own. If I were to eventually run into that person, there's a talent in swerving conversations where you're out of your depth. Gotta pick those battles wisely.

Only time I ever get embarrassed is when I overhear some young nikkas talkin bout hiphop...I try so hard to ignore it but then my lame ass always has to jump in and correct some things.

i usually come here to get my knowledge up because i really don't know that much compared to a lot of dude's here about the 90's & early 00's (im only 18), but i've never ran into anyone irl that has talked about some shyt i don't know about. i got crazy knowledge people be like when im spitting facts.

i met these dudes at a concert & i've seen them at like three of them & they call me a karaoke machine because within like three seconds of every song played i know the song

I try to be aware of everything culture wise from the golden era to th e digital one but one time i got my biscuits sorely burned for being ignorant.

A chick a worked with a few years ago (i was 21) was one of those older white people that were heads in the 80s and got stuck there. she had an elvira look to her and i didn't expect her to like rap at all. i had no idea she liked rap because it didn't come up and she didn't fit the profile. sorta like joaquin :stillhere?:

we worked in a costume store and the first day on the job she was saying to me "you know you'd REALLY look good in a rope necklace". that shyt bothered the fukk out of me.

i held that shyt with me all day like...should i tell my manager or confront this lady. then i brought it up to my homeboy that i came up rappin with he was like "nikka!" and then pointed to the big daddy kane poster on his wall.

needless to say i was :why?: for being such an ass but i got over it and kept on digging for more hiphop. shyt was hella embarrassing!

I left out a crucial part of the story now that i look at it. when she was talking rope necklace, i thought she meant a noose.

Nah, people are usually impressed, like you should be in the business, which usually just highlights how little so many people really know. It's really only certain people I can talk that rap shyt with, the conversation is just dead in the water, usually after they reveal themselves as a casual listener or uninformed fan....I am much more comfortable online with everyone here.
