Agreed.... but unfortunately as black men - we must adapt to our environment and face reality.

I know we prefer to enjoy life, have fun, dance, and show love to everyone but we live in a world of wolves and demons.

We must adapt and conform.... In a world of predators, we must also adjust and be the predator also.... or else we'll be eaten and destroyed.

In a world of demons, its all about who can be the bigger demon.

Hate can definitely destroy you, both inside and out, and has destroyed many people in the process. Both the ones who hold it AND the ones that energy is directed to. Look no further than racism in the world against black people. Facing hatred because our complexion is darker than everyone else's. That's not a positive force. How could it be?

Think about it. When we do things out of anger, our actions tend to be destructive. A lot of times we're doing it with the direct purpose to hurt someone. Like the old saying goes, people fear what they don't understand, and that turns into hate, because they believe the intent MUST be negative. Even if there's no evidence to support that. So, people out of fear will attack preemptively because they don't want to be caught with their pants down, so to speak.

This is why jealousy is toxic. Because it goes from envy to feeling insecure about themselves. To then thinking, "Who do they think they are?! I'll knock them down a peg, then they'll see..." That's why success can be scary, because there's people out there that could do you harm simply because you get the enjoy the fruits of your own labor. :wow:

But it's also not so black and white either. You can hate evil. You can hate white supremacists, rapists and murderers. You can hate pedophiles. And all sorts of ne'er-do-wells. However, I think it's what we do with that anger that counts. With that anger, we can use that to spur us into action to protect us from those who mean us harm. Or seeking justice and righteousness. But even that is a slippery slope.

I think it's a topic that's as old as time itself. And will continue to be discussed as long as humans are capable of experiencing emotions. But it's definitely one thing to know that hate can be destructive, and another thing entirely when someone hurts you deeply and all you're seeing in the moment is red. Emotions can override reason with the right circumstances, and that's how rash decisions are made. And then in moments of clarity and introspection, we feel regret for those actions. Too much of that, and people fall into despair due to their own guilt. And if they can't escape that... I don't need to say the rest. :merchant:

It's scary just how vulnerable we can be to ourselves, to be quite honest. :wow: Humans are scary if you meet the wrong one and you're not prepared to deal with it accordingly.

what are we defining as hate exactly?

because im pretty sure you can be a calm hateful person
Not at all, hate consumes you, its literally defined as "intense and passionate dislike for someone or something'

You can't be intense and passionate and calm, you can dislike something or an idea to the point where you work to destroy it but not be hateful about it. Being hateful gets you jammed up, being calm and motivated gets you what you want

I would say hate without context is a worthless emotion.

But in context it is one of, if not most, powerful emotion.

What you say sounds good until you think of slavery. You really think our ancestors would have called hate a worthless emotion? Or would hate have been the only thing holding their humanity and identity together?

Or do you still think it's a worthless emotion and we should have had love instead? :mjpls:

How does one posses the desire to destroy something but not hate them? Does it even matter what you call it at the point?

there are plenty of calm racists running the country so I don’t understand this at all.

are you telling me all of the genocides and wars committed in the name of hate weren’t…hateful? You think hitler would have gotten as far as he did NOT based on hate?

That's not what I'm saying, there are certainly historical examples of hatred fueling genocides and wars, it exists(though you should watch more Hitler speeches and read more about his messaging and rhetoric or read some books on some historical genocides because I don't think very many calm ones exist). I'm saying you can accomplish a lot more without that emotional response is all, while it's not likely that the average person can have the same response to certain stimuli, there's a reason why sociopaths do so well in business

Disagree.

Apathy is the worst emotion

Hate is a valuable motivator in controlled spurts.

Hatred protects you against your enemies and strengthens your mind, soul and body in aggression

Hatred is self destructive. I think this is what OP is trying to say. You may destroy your enemies but you destroy yourself in the process.

Look no further than the current state of white folks. They are so consumed with hating us that they are literally bodying themselves and destroying their country.

Their hatred for us is consuming them.
