as a suburban nikka myself, this is an ignorant post.
Just because he had a few things does not make him rich. The rest of my fam made different choices than my parents and most are still in the hood. But if you see these nikkas out and about, gucci belt, fresh clothes, jordans in all colorways, fitted galore, etc.
Just because someone grows up in a different area than the hood does not mean that their pockets were deeper. Some families choose location and quality of life with less money in their bank accounts than growing up in the hood splurging on things they don't need.
I would bet that cole had it a lot harder than you think. I grew up in a nice home in a nice area, but we weren't rich. I may have had an xbox and some games as a youngin, but trust I was on that one new pair of shoes a school year and 2 or 3 outfits new and thats all you get policy not unless my cuzzos in the hood.
He has pretty much laid out his step father as the one who brought in a decent check from the army, just like my parents.

All it means is you are in college. You can still be poor, homeless, stuck between a rock and a hard place, pregnant, have kids, be on the run, anything, while in college. I know a CSU student who just got shot and killed summer break after his sophomore year
All college means is you're trying to better yourself through education, it doesn't mean you aren't struggling. Plenty of college kids are supporting family members, working two jobs alongside a fulltime class schedule, selling drugs to get by
