Like j cole. You gotta FOUR YEAR DEGREE. You could quit rap right now and get a 6 FIGURE JOB.

6 figures?

He has a communications degree, how do you expect him to quit and get a 6 figure job?

You act like he has an engineering degree or a doctorate. :francis:

How does having a degree make it seem like he had it easy? I know plenty of people with degrees (including myself) that grew up wearing the same pair of jeans to school every day and my only kicks were the ones my brother had 4 years before.

Drake is the best example though. He was a childhood tv star then used his money to buy into the music industry.

Why is it that hiphop is the ONLY genre of music where if you didn't grow up strugglin then you aint shyt?

I agree with the OPs original idea but I think it kinda went of course here.

I hate when rappers pretend they grew up hard. But I don't see how that is different than ANY rapper lying about ANYTHING.

If you are OK with rappers rapping about killing and being drug kingpins knowing that they are lying then why should anyone be upset about their struggle?

I do find it funny that dudes are making it seem like a '4 year degree' is worthy of anything.

A bachelors degree is just a step in the door for 90% of jobs.

if you don't have at least a masters there is a good chance you ain't making 6 figures....but I'll let the coli tell it. :sas2:

Man, unless you got millions in your bank account, we all struggling in some way or another.

I come from a middle class family, and my pops still had to get a second job at K-Mart to make sure the bills were paid. I was rocking $30 sneaks until I could work myself.

That's life. Some cats come from desperation and poverty and yes that is obviously different than the middle class grind. But until you reach financial independence, you always are going to have economic hardships here and there.

:jbhmm:Degrassi is the bottom?

I think Drake is talking about getting drinks for dudes in the studio in Houston or Atlanta or whatever Godawful Southern hellhole the government has propped up to make impoverished grade-school reading level blacks feel like they run shyt.

He used to be a gopher for all those long white tee and zig zag cornrow ringtone southern rappers, I think. He doesn't mean poverty.

Your mommy bought you $500 beat machines as a KID. YOU had it EASY stop acting like it was anything different.

"If you don't take chance how we gon get rich"

SMH stop talking like that. You were BORN rich. You never took no real chance.

:rudy:

Didn't J.Cole rap about his mom delivering pizzas in Rich nikkaz? Also, I don't know how much J.Cole would have done with a Communications degree and a BA isn't guaranteeing anyone a 6 figure job.

Struggle is relative. Just because someone may have had it harder than you doesn't invalidate your own struggle.

nikkas want their rappers to have a crackhead for a father, a prostitute for a mother, and for them to have had to seel heroin from age 6 so they could put ramen on the table.
Not everyone is going to be the Game, 50 Cent, or Crooked I :mjlol:

You might be on to something. I think some people gas up rappers who come from really shytty backgrounds because it makes them feel better about themselves and more superior.

I might be wrong but I think somewhere in one of his songs he mentioned his mom might've
been hooked on something.

On topic :

This shyt applies to Drake more than ANY contemporary rapper,it's weird as fukk to see some
child star who could afford 50,000 to 60,000 dollar cars as a teen talk about "Starting from the bottom".
It's even fukking weirder when I see people try to pretend Kendrick or even J. Cole's upbringing is analogous
to someone who was in a mansion when they were on government assistance.
:whoa: I don't know about all of that. Drake wasn't making money like that, dude was bringing in a lower-middle class income on his own. He wasn't a Disney star :heh:
