My father had 2 daughters, of which I am the oldest. I'm 28, and in the 27 years he was on this earth, I have 3 life lessons he taught me ingrained into my spirit that I live by, everyday.

My sister and I are very mentally and emotionally strong young women. You can raise yours to be this way too. Don't sweat it, just make sure you're setting a strong foundation for them from the beginning so that they'll grow up with a healthy self esteem and know their self worth. I know my name and how it tied directly to my father, I know what he expected of me and what people thought of him when they heard his name. That is why I choose to live the way I do. I may be a square or whatever, but I believe in my name and will do right by the first man who loved and taught me well, although he's no longer physically here. That's the impact he made on me. Fathers who are invested in their children's (especially daughters) well being are so crucial. She won't forget it, trust me!
