If you from the hood then you don't trust anyone. And if you out the hood you still don't trust anyone. So thats part of the problem, it's hard to build trust. Also, America has shown that it is generally ok with the status quo because it means that a majority of the population benefits. From a numbers stand point black people are in the minority. Its also easy to identify black people because others don't really share our physical traits, so that lends to easier discrimination. Further there isnt a language barrier protecting the culture as we speak english and slang has been appropriated for the longest.
If you're the new kid and you see a kid getting picked on by everyone else, chances are you're going to at least keep your distance if not outright join in the bullying, so there really isnt any sympathy out there. And its all setup this way for the sake of privilege for the majority. Not saying that black people shouldn't keep fighting, but social progression is going to be frustratingly slow for a long time. The civil rights era was an easier time to ban together because the injustices were so blatant and the internet wasn't around to sweep issues under the rug after a week.
