Reminds me of my guy from school... Some dude from outta town put him on the gang & told him he was good... He out here reppin...
Shooters from they city came through.. Come to find out dude was in the gang, but snitched, violated... They told my guy he cool cause he didnt know, but if he ever threw they hood up again he gettin it... They was lookin for dude & he keep runnin... G-checks get real...
Same shyt - This kid had a cousin in Chi-town that repped LK but you know damn well they don't do nationwide gangs like that anymore (if they ever did it was on the trial or case-by-case basis for big heists and complex racketeering shyt across state lines). And even then local members of the same overall crew vary from block or set to the next. Allegiances are often murky and the lines get too blurry which is why in the 90's all these rap songs come out referencing "posers". Because they were dumb class clown type kids that took advantage of that haze.
These days gangs are smaller and more niche, smarter and operate more discretely - You can't pose as easily.
My dude was stunting because his fam out in Chi-town was about that life thinking that his rep would transfer to NYC. LK was small so to a certain degree it did - They had nationwide codes and he knew some of them. But where he failed was:
- Failing to prove himself locally and establish boundaries. They gave "holmes" the option several times to set his tier - You can be affiliated and get modest protection, if you getting beat down and an LK nearby you can summon for help, but that's about it. Up to that member if he want to risk himself for an outlier. Or he could be half-way in, but obviously to do that you gotsta either pay tax, provide some resource (stash house) or something. A lot of young nikkas try and stunt and just don't understand common sense - Nothing in this life is for FREE!!!!
- Messing with non-members under the flag - This is the biggest no-no hands down and in the 90's a LOT of young cats got slayed for stepping out of line, disobeying cease fires and fukking with unaffiliated civilians while using their rep or on gang time. shyt is like a company, you on company time spending company money doing illicit shyt for personal gain - you gonna get G-checked and fukked up. Consequences vary as I'm sure you know but can range from extra tax to death.
A lot of it overall the common theme here is age. Young dudes trying to get over, not follow any rules and not abide by authority. The golden ticket in any life is
MONEY. If you affiliated and not providing goods or services you gonna get treated the same way you would in regular society - as an outcast and most importantly -
YOUR LIFE BECOMES DISPOSABLE.
Not many old heads make it to a certain age, so the wisdom does not get passed down. That's the difference between minority gangs in Amerikkka and Cosa Nostra and other Euro-ethnic mafias - They got 70 year olds still being called Capo and shyt. That's a whole lot of wisdom our people don't have operating at the top of these organizations whether large or small. So the youth constantly step out of line and never get it together.
