Yea, but I understand how backwards it is. In reality, why even get into an exclusive relationship with someone that you don't believe has the qualities to expound on the already established relationship. In my opinion, serious, monogamous relationships are a precursor to or tryout for marriage in many ways.

If that person doesn't seem like someone you could see yourself with, then being exclusive and investing time, money and emotion is simply a waste of time.

With all that said, I still have done it. Sometimes, you may want the person but you know you are not ready to go to that next level. Not saying that person wouldn't be a good mate but that you wouldn't be able to equal their commitment at this point.
