No, although if teach you how/when/why lying makes sense, there's no stopping you from at least trying to use those skills on me.

Thing is though; the value of lying is staying safe. My job is to make them feel safe enough that they never have to lie to me, but know when someone is lying to them and when it would be prudent to withhold information or even lead someone in the direction that secures your safety.

The flip side of that is, there is a difference in lying and being a LIAR. LIARS, who compulsively lie and manipulate ultimately hurt themselves by eschewing authenticity. There is always a middle ground.

with all due respect breh, i dont think you can teach a child how to "lie effectively" without running the risk of teaching them to lie compulsively

I got an Atari 2600 for christmas. My mom said she was gonna buy me a new game every week. First week come I'm excited I ask to get one she says no. I tell her she lied to me and get popped in the mouth. I'm still salty all these years later. :stopitslime:

You always run some sort of risk as a parent.

Point is, you equally run the risk of raising a perpetual victim if you don't teach them why/how/when people lie and when it might be prudent to do so. This doesn't mean I put my children through spy training, but for instance my oldest daughter while still a 'child' is of the age where she needs to be put up on game.

i got a homeboy from back home who when he was a kid his mom used to drop him off at granny's so she can go party (regularly) and she would tell him "dont worry, mama will be right back", like it would only be a few minutes.. and she be gone til the next day maybe two days before she picked him up...

this was 30 years ago and hes still pissed at her about that one lie. he refers to her as "that bytch" and all kinda shyt....

like ive seen him drunk balling his eyes out talking about it like it was some real childhood trauma

that one lie from mama :francis:

Oh, I'm sure my mom has told me some fat lies throughout my life.

Everyone lies, so I'm not gonna hold it against my mom.

The biological that didn't bother, I won't bother to explain.

i agree with you on teaching a child how/when/why to doubt something

i just dont believe theres any value in teaching a child how where and when to lie. Or keep secrets. i think its damaging to the kid individually and yalls relationship.

About Santa Clause and babies coming from stalks. They didn't know any better about their religion. So I don't hold that against them.
