First of all, the point of breaking down the value of lying to a child that is ready to comprehend such things is to actually have true transparency and strengthen the relationship. The generation before mine in my family were not raised with such transparency and they all fell victim to some kind of predator or circumstance that could have been mitigated by not keeping secrets.

I put early emphasis making sure my kids never felt the need to keep secrets from ME. Now out in the world, especially as a young adult is different. Just knowing when to doubt isn't an actionable step. Telling a man you have a boyfriend when you don't to get him to leave you tf alone is.

As a parent, it's a must to remember that you are raising ADULTS to be.
YES YES YES!

A mother and grandmother's lie to their son: Women are going to be all over you.

A father's lie to his children: I'm going to spend time with you and take you places.

I have to check them on that type of silly shyt all the time.

They don't have any sort of logic whatsoever.

i have one taking money from a younger cousin because she didn't save enough and then giving that money to her own sister (cousin's mother) ..

makes no sense to me. questions aside about who gave who what to encourage them to save it, it seems that a line has been crossed.

if i was in charge none of that would take place around here.

how are you going to teach people morality when you yourself are no example.

Right. In my experience, people's morals become real "flexible" when it suits them.

Imagine coming believe your parents never lied to you :mjlol:

All honestly, I don't have kids yet but when I do I probably won't or try to not lie to them. When I used to work with kids, I always try and tell them the truth straight up and when they caught me lying I apologized and told them why I lied.

My parents don't really lie. But they have a weird perspective on shyt.

For example, I have a cousin who is damn near a genius. Probably one of the most stand up people you will ever meet. The nikka sews for fun, went to MIT and has impeccable manners. However, he was a baby my uncle (his father) had outside his marriage. His father is now dead.

Then I have another cousin who literally body slams his mom, won't leave the house and flunked out of college.

Both of them have White mothers btw.

When it came time to give out some inheritance money, my dad's side acted like the genius cousin didn't "deserve" his father's part of the inheritance because he didn't say "thank you"...mind you it's not their money to be thanked for. Both my parents agree with that goofy line of thinking.

I told them you have a problem with the genius who literally is damn near an angel but cool with the beige nikka who plays basketball with his mommy's head (his father is in the same house btw)?

:mjlol:

They were just quiet and literally haven't brought it up sense.

I have to check them on that type of silly shyt all the time.

probably have a legit reason
but don't want to tell you the family secret:manny:

My Pops lied to us all the time 'cause he thought we were idiots and he was smart enough to get away it, because we'd never question or accost him for it. That's why all three of his kids bond over the fact that he was a mediocre parent and individual all our lives.
My Mom lied to some extent as most parents do, but due to the rift between us that is steadily growing, I honestly had to tell my bro "I can't trust her no more" due to various situations in which she'd talk to me like a politician and just 'casually' choose to omit the truth in recent years.
Honestly almost made me cry if I'm being serious, 'cause even without the lawyer broad I confided in about the situation, Mah dukes thought I was "stupid" enough to attempt to achieve a signature under some false pretense shyt for a situation she was trying to rectify. Like she straight up put me in the crossfire of the law. Was willing to use me as fukkin' bait to forward a greater scheme she didn't think I knew about, while selling me a 6 for a 9. fukkin' sent me on a suicide mission that I'd have to answer to the law for on some pawn sacrificing shyt. Psychosomatic chills from the realization of it all had me sick the whole fukkin' week until I had to accept that shyt.

She's been awesome for more than half my life and I owe my privileged upbringing to her since my Pops never rose above being a mediocre human being in most every aspect. To delve into the woman she's become, or atleast in general towards me in certain instances, would need to include the fact that I'm basically squandered potential and at times, a difficult and probably frustrating child when it was clear I wouldn't become anything near what I'd want to think she'd hope I turned out to be as an adult.
I'll always love my mother, man and I know somewhere she loves me, But I've had to accept the fact that I can't really like her as the current person she is, especially with regards to how much she's willing to demarginalize me to upkeep 'certain shyt' that no mother should be endangering their seeds for, regardless.
