I went to a Nipsey Hussle show and there were some cats "selling" tickets and mixtapes at the door :francis:

$10 for general admission and it came with their mixtape :martin:

I chopped it up with one of them and they said if they sold all the tickets they got to open the show before Nipsey's opening acts

I already had tickets but asked for a mixtape...for free...

saw them boys performing and they had some dope songs live :obama:

played the CD in the whip and it was about 30% :ehh: 50% :snoop: (fake flossing) and 20% HOT garbage

I gave it one more listen and even though it was ok I still gave it the bushes treatment

damn so the NOLA or Louisiana don't support them local artists
we most definitely do. Our local radio station, Q93, has a segment where they only play local up and coming artist. I think its every night after the hot 8 @ 8. Besides, most of the artist we listen to are local: Nobby, Freedia, Flipset Fred etc. (Bounce rules the land), but that handing out mixtape shyt is no-go.

I love when people sell me music. A lot of it is really really good. I can either ride to it, work out to it, clean to it, something.

I never understood why people make fun of inspiring rappers. I love hip hop and you don't need to be famous for me like it. People be laughing but missing out on some dope music. Strange.

it's because mad people are rapping now and that rap isn't taken seriously. when i was pre-teen in the 2000's if you rapped not many people would laugh or hate on you and would want to hear you spit. now it's just hate cause everybody and they mama doing it.

but where do people usually give out tapes in Chicago ? and also did you ended up supporting and following these artists that handed you some music on social media ?

A musician friend once told me artists aren't necessarily trying to get rich and famous, they just want to get paid enough to create and concentrate on art fulltime. If someone creates art and wants to share I think that's amazing.

Ive lived in several big cities and have bought mixtapes at festivals, train stops, book readings, outside malls, hair salons, all kinds of places.

I usually will hit their fb page to critique and if its really dope as it usually is, I'll share it to my 5000 friends on fb.

Ive met and became friendly with rappers named Prince Ea from STL and TOP$ from Chicago like this. Y'all should check them both out. Super dope artists and really great people too.
