Have you ever sat courtside at an NBA game?

How did you get the job? Did it pay well? Any traveling with the team?

Nah I didn't get paid. My pops worked in local media and he would just get me a pass as his photographer. Got to go to the locker rooms, post game release and food/snack tables.
I would go with this basic camera I copped from the pawn shop and front like I was actually taking pics . I remember this one guy next to me was giving me advice on long range and short range lenses I should use, and I was like "Hey I'm not even gonna lie I'm just here cuz my pops hooked me up with a pass"
I was like 18-19 and having a ball

I was at one Maryland game back in the locker room and this butt kissing cac was shaking my hand and cheesing in my face, asking me if I needed anything. I'm wondering why this dude is all up on me, then I realized he thought I was a new recruit. I think Gary Williams even got sick of his suck up ways, cuz he screamed on him at one of the press conferences

Did this at Staples center twice. First at a OKC/Lakers game three years ago and for a PHX/LAC game later that year.

Even though Kobe, Nash and Howard were out at the time, OKC still had , KD and Harden . Plus the Laker game experience was still

Sat courtside right behind the basket when I went to a Rockets/CAVS game when I was in Houston last year . That was dope. Ushers were dapping me up on how close I my seat was

I got to do courtside photography sometimes at Wizards games in the Jordan era, as well as the Steve Blake/Juan Dixon Terps
It's a dope experience. The speed and physicality of the NBA game up close is definitely different than what you see otherwise. Them nikkas are ON POINT with movement and conditioning. You constantly hear slapping and grunting..nikkas are basically getting fouled every play. At least that's how it was back then....You hearing every convo between players and refs. Being up close to hear MJ sonning dudes verbally and seeing the consistent disappointment on his face with Kwame Brown
Kwame was usually the most physically intimidating looking nikka on the court, his calves were the size of Lou Ferrigno. He was just so soft and sorry though


There was always that part of me that wanted to run out there and just start shooting or two stepping with a cheerleader lol



With college ball it's not as crisp as NBA, but it's definitely several notches faster and better than the best pickup games you'll ever be a part of

How was it?

Court side watching CP3 and Dwill battle it out. This was when D will was killing shyt in Utah and CP was in NOLA.

shyt is crazy how big and fast them dudes are. shyt humbled whatever expectations I had that I could've played in the league .
I stood up as David West was leaving the court and that dude looked like a wall, and I'm 6'5.

Sat like 4 rows behind the basket at rockets/warriors game back in 2015. Righy by the tunnel the cheerleaders were standing at majority of the game but I was with my wife so

Close to courtside, it's amazing how fast the players are in person, the camera angles on TV does a terrible job of capturing how fast these dudes are moving and the type of decisions they need to make in a split second. They look like they're moving at 4x speed, shyt is insane.

I've set courtside and right behind the bench at a ton of mavericks games...

I was sitting courtside when Carter hit that game winner against the spurs in the playoffs in '14. Never seen a shot so perfect. The very second it left his fingertips you could tell it was hitting nothing but the bottom of the net.

I prefer watching the game on TV. Watching courtside or from behind the bench you can quickly understand how refs miss calls because the players are so fast...

In that series...even in parker older age...it was like dude was warping around the court...and it looked like Timmy would start challenging shots before they even occurred...I remember he lunged out at a monta ellis shot and i was watching him...he wasn't even shooting...and then...all of a sudden Timmy had blocked a shot...that i never actually saw even though I was looking dead at the dude...

Closest I've been was 8 rows back. That was for a game in Memphis when Kobe dropped 60. Some of those moves were jaw dropping. The very first play of that highlight where he does spin drives gathers his balance and spins the other way for the shot. Seeing so close and how fast he did it all and balance it took to do it was just amazing. There was some decently priced courtside tickets to the New Orleans Charlotte game a couple days ago I was going to scoop and forgot all about until it was too late since the game had already started.



I've also been about 10 rows back a couple of times. One was for a playoff game in Charlotte when they were going against Dwight and the Magic and last year when Knicks played in OKC. Russ is by far my favorite live experience of any star player just because of how hard he's going at all times with Kobe a close second.

Was in the best seats I've ever been in at the Knicks/Spurs Sunday afternoon game last month that the Knicks won (). They were in the lower level, about mid way up. Right after halftime I was sitting there with my 6 year old son and some dude (I never even saw what he looked like) dropped two tickets in my lap, talking about he had to go home. They put us in about the 10th row behind the basket

Players are huge, and the court seems so small. It doesn't seem possible for them to navigate the lanes as easily as they do. One thing I noticed was how little most of the people around me gave a fukk. They seemed to all be season ticket holders with a semi-interested dude, and bored wives/kids/girlfriends. Was dope watching the game, but strange from that perspective. Everyone got lit in the final two minutes, though.
