Have you ever seen a crowd hotter for a wrestler than this, ever?

GOAT wrestling pop in my opinion. Nothing from this era comes remotely close.

CM Punk also doesn't count because he was in his home town, come on :aicmon:

To their credit the WWE led Punk into that pop in Chicago perfectly for once.

Chicago is a red hot wrestling town in general historically even if you're not a native (Austin at mania 13?). Can't fault or hold it against Punk because Chicago puts on for its people. He had at that time earned and deserved that pop

The pop at summerslam 97 was as big or bigger than the invasion comeback pop....and what makes that more remarkable...is that austin was middle of the card, and the crowd was bananas for him...

Imagine if at summerslam 2013 it was Cesaro vs. kofi and cesaro got that ovation

Shockingly overrated, self serving moment....it was a good ovation but automatically if its a return/run in its less impressive.

That stonecold shyt was just a crowd FOAMING to see austin...and that pop was bigger

Interesting point, however I think the circumstances of why someone is getting the pop in the first place is petty really. However I must agree Austin's pop was bigger imo, pause.

Yeah exactly we have plenty of examples of guys not getting those kinds of pops at home. Imagine if punk doesn't return until the next raw in Chicago or ppv there shyt would blow up

^^JR and Lawler loved to HATE on the Rock when those pops got out of control...Ross couldn't stop talking about Austin and was definitely kind of underselling that insane standing ovation for the Rock and they also kept talking about Vince and the fukking Regime the whole time the Rock was talking. Little SNEAKY things like that you didn't notice at first but when you got older, it became crystal clear what the element was backstage at that particular time.
