Not saying this didn't happen but I will say that folks make up so many duck tales to go viral that sometimes it's hard to tell.
I have. Pretty much they're trying to fill the same gaps I am about my great grandmother. That's my dad's side of the family though, and on my grandmother's side. I know her dad and uncles all looked like Obama and Colin Powell, while my great grandmother looked like Mariah Carey. I can trace the history of the men. Service in the civil war. Underground railroad conductors. But great grandma is a dead end. All I know is that she was adopted and there are no records. In other words, her white mother got pregnant by a black man, probably biracial since her complexion was that light, and gave that kid up the moment she came out.

Yes...I'm related to the Broyard family of Louisiana, some of whom like the writer Anatole Broyard 'passed' into white society completely and so some parts of the family are still shocked to find out they have black relatives when they take a DNA test.

My DNA is soooo fukking black. 92% African. 1% Native American the rest a mixture of European. My FBA ancestors wasn’t with that rape shyt it seems. I know the little bit of European and Native American is on my moms side also. Pops side was black as shyt.

I did ancestry and that shyt changed like 5 times in 6 years.
As they get more data, they narrow it down more.
23 and Me is another, but I don't have any experience with that.
