Is it blind nostalgia if I say the NFL peaked in the late 90's/early 2000s? People like to say everything peaked in the 90s, but thats when I first started following the league close. The era of:
- Randy Moss/Randall Cunningham/Culpepper
- Mike Vick
- Greatest Show on Turf
- Miami Hurricane takeover of the league

I'm watching the Eagles play regardless. Teams in my division are a priority but can be broken if more important/exciting things come up. Other games are case by case

It technically peaked in the late 80's early 90's pre salary cap and expansion

No.
I will be watching 2 or 3 games each sunday the entire season. Majority of Monday night games will be watched, and a few Thursday nights as well.

i've lost interest. I just see it as bunch of field bucks cracking each other's skull for some Billionaire cac. The contracts are toilet paper. People go down for the full season every week. I hate the smug WS announcers. Too many ads.

I'll watch with the volume on like 2 or 3 (bumping music) and I dont do pre-games anymore.

I've enjoyed La Liga and Premiere League more w/ my Sunday (noons/6pUK/7pmESP).
Add all of the apologist BUCK announcers.. :camby:

Brooklyn
Bad choice for a first game. Kansas City? A good team but not a top draw.

Compare to the NBA first day of regular season - Boston v. Cleveland and Houston v. Golden State. Stars all over the place.

Yep.

I didn't watch any pre-season and I ain't watched the first week outside of glancing at a TV when I walked past a bar. It's college football, soccer, and a little formula 1 for me right now. It don't feel like I'm missing a thing.

not completely, but i'd say i fell off about 30%.

i used to be a hardcore hardcore fan of the NFL, but as i've gotten older i've become more casual. the concept of completely wasting a day watching bad football doesn't seem as attractive anymore. it's wild thinking about when you factor pre-game shows, noon games, afternoon games, and sunday night football, you basically sat on the couch from like 10am to 10 pm watching football. i'd rather waste my time getting out the house and doing something. :yeshrug:

most of the teams suck. most of the quarterbacks suck. the coaches are stupid but act like they're the smartest people in the room. the quarterbacks that are actually considered "good" are not even that good. the rule changes and modern schemes make most teams play the same. lack of true superstar running backs. can't play defense anymore. terrible officiating, etc, etc.

pre-game shows and daily football shows are unbearable. a bunch of dudes telling you shyt that you already know and giving thier :trash: sports takes.
That's the jist of it for me. Everyone trying to recreate the same offense. No one wants to heavily invest in a RB and the running game anymore. RB is the NFL equivalent of what the center position has become in the NBA. QB is the star, and alot of QB's are mediocre.

fukk No!

I always watch a Raiders game, never miss one if i can. I'm excited for football now as I was during the Jamarcus years, the love for the game will never fade for me.

I will watch other games that I got money or fantasy football on and Ill still be into it.

I'm the exact opposite of most everyone saying as they got older, they lost interest. shyt, im watching highlights analysis, Good Morning Football, every morning now. Every chance I get is on football now until the Super Bowl. I'm happy as fukk right now.

:yeshrug:
Youre a raiders fan.

The raiders are good.

If the dolphins were good and were projected to win the AFC, I'd be an NFL superfan too.

I watch every Lions game, and I at least watch half of games that feature relevant teams in our division (Packers, Vikings). I tend to watch SNF since the matchup is usually pretty good (on paper). I'll glance at MNF, maybe have it in the background...but usually MNF is weak.

When TNF first came out I was excited. But after a couple games I realized that shyt was trash and shouldn't fukking exist. Terrible matchups every time. Consider tomorrow's game. Unless your squad is playing, is anyone seriously excited about Houston v Cincy? Two teams that scored a total SEVEN POINTS last week. Yea I fukk with DeShaun Watson but not enough to spend my evening watching that shyt.

MNF used to be an event. When I was a kid I'd watch the game while doing my chores, every Monday. In college I used to finish my homework early just so I could watch the game. Now? That shyt is trash usually, and it's no longer an "event." It's just another game. The NFL needs to kill TNF and revive MNF. Hell, just treat it like NBA treats SNF. Everything is professional and well done at NBC during those games. Whereas ESPN got questionable commentators and sideline reporters lmao.

Chargers-Broncos, Falcons-Bears were only good games rest were ehhh. First few weeks of football aren't as exciting when games start meaning more that's when it gets good. Its like college football If it isn't big game or big name there is no interest.
This. I get just as excited as everyone else when it comes to the wildcard race and the playoffs. But the first 3 months of the NFL aren't exciting unless my team is doing well. And my team is the dolphins, so that should let you know how I feel about the NFL week to week...
