Working in finance, I see this a lot, especially with romance scammers. You’d be surprised (or not) that it happens a lot more to older women (especially divorced ones) than it does to men.

But I nor anyone in my family have ever been scammed. I’m not sure if it’s luck or being hyper vigilant.

What about you?:jbhmm:

Yeah, I had this coworker who was trying to rent an apartment. shyt was too good to be true. Like $1000 for a 1 bedroom in a really nice neighborhood. She showed it to me and said that the owners weren’t available to show it, but they wanted to make sure that she had the money for a deposit.

They asked her to get a moneygram for like $2000 just so they could make sure that she had the money. I told her not to do it. She did it anyway. The next day, she’s at her desk, crying that she lost the money. I told another coworker about it, and he was like “white women never listen”.:beli:

shyt had me dying.

I got scammed before as a young businessman... but it wasn't the normal type of scam. Folks actually paid me $2 grand.

All that happened was I had to give the money back. so I guess I didn't really get scammed :yeshrug:

My grandmother was a victim of one of those senior scams.

Sent $800 over the phone from someone claiming to be from her utility company. Crazy thing is she always pays her stuff online & on time.

So I don’t know how she let those scammers convince her that her utilities would be cut off immediately if she ain’t send money:snoop:

In college I scammed someone a couple hundred :mjlol:

I’ve told this story before but I bought tickets to a football game, got the refund for them, sold the printouts on Craigslist, showed up to the game and gave him the printout and told him to go and have them scanned and then dipped :wow:

ask me about the times folks have tried to scam me tho?

I've had dudes follow me in the mall tryna get me to do the 3 cups thing. Happened twice, back when I was really young and didn't know how to make a nikka back up yet

had a chic come to my office twice collecting money for her "classmate" that got injured in a car crash. She did it one year, went around to every business in the town. She waited a couple years before she tried it again. The 2nd time, I guess she thought folks would have forgot about her... I pressed her hard tho. I'm like, what's the classmate's name? what hospital she in? Who's your teacher in the class? She gave me a fake name and fake number for her teacher. And she never came back.

That scam is so prevalent out here that they have warnings printed on the actual utility bills.

She has early dementia too. 8 years ago she would’ve hung up on they goofy ass
I always have fun with those guys and waste their time.

This man named “Michael” who had a suspicious Indian sounding, accent tried to get me to wire 1000 over the phone to him. I pretended to sound old and confused. Told him to hold on for 30 mins whilst I got my bank card details.

As I read my number to him I said “and the last 4 digits are: go fukk yourself slum dog.” To which he responded “go and suck your mother.”

one time this dude from Africa called me trying to run an obvious scam. I was bored at work so I decided to play with him.

Decided to get up under his skin by calling him the K word. Dude lost it and started cussing in broken english :russ:

another time was this dude from Jamaica, called and told me that I won 500,000, all I had to do was go to Western Union and send him $1000 to get it

it was a Sat and I was chillin at home bored, so I told him ya, I'll do it. Just hold on, I'll get right up there.

Kept dude on the phone on mute for like 45 min while I watched TV, kept unmuting and telling him, "yeah yeah, almost there. I'm really excited about getting this money :blessed:"

whole time I'm  watching Denzel movies

In financial consulting, a bunch. It's the fukking worse job, seeing people who don't know any better giving everything away to some sick opportunist. fukking disgusting man. I've seen elderly women give a huge chunk of retirement and SS checks away for a fukking scam. :to:
