As of right now, blessing. But I’m sure once they start talking back and getting on my nerves I’ll feel the burden part lol then they’ll be 90% blessing 10% burden.

I have four... 16/14/6/3 ..

burden .. no ...
blessing definitely ... even my 3 yr old who has down syndrome.... he's an extra blessing...

you see the world differently once you have children... not for the better not for worse.... just different.. your perspective changes from a selfish "I" to "the kids" and with that things are just different.

True, I was being facetious mostly. I think children can be both blessings and burdens in all seriousness, but I’m a strong believer in having kids when you’re emotionally, mentally and financially ready.

the bolded is what gets me because as a society a person is never ready until you do it... some things you cant prepare for... whenever you make enough money .. you'll say you want more... and then mentally you want to do this or that.. and before long you always increasing your desires and before long its to late...

Mid 30's kids are for young people.

Like in ur 20's is best to have children.

I did alot of dumb shyt young.

And im not a responsible person monetary wise.

Im doing someone a favor by not being a parent.

Ill just spoil my niece and nephew

mids 30s is not old... I had my last when I was 42 and the one before him at 39.. that's still young..

did you ever think that maybe having a child will force you to be responsible.... life is ironic like that..... when its time to step up .. we step up

I mean all that within reason of course. If you’re in your early 20s making 20k a year you’ll probably struggle and need to work more jobs. Some people are emotionally distant or aren’t exactly mature but jump into parenthood. I get what you’re saying, you can never really be completely prepared to raise and take care of a human being, but you can plan and set basic standards for yourself. To ensure the best life for your kid and at least minimise the stress a little.

yeah mines just learned the word "no" fun stuff!!

but I think people here are confusing a burden with a negative connotation. A burden can be a blessing. the dictionary defines it as something that is difficult to bear; something that causes great stress or worry. Which is true of anyone who has kids. But it's a burden most parents wouldn't trade for anything.

Children are an investment you make. Like a financial transaction where you take out part of your paycheck to put into a retirement account. The more of the percentage of your check you put into retirement, may cause a burden in the now, but enhances your future
same with kids...the more time you take away from your self and sew into your kids, the more dividends you'll reap later in life from those kids.

I never want to be one of those people in a nursing home whose adult kids ignore and never visit
