Look at this youngster over here:lolbron:

go outside grown folks talking:russ::russ:

but seriously the major cell companies had shyt like unlimited minutes after 9 and other shyt that is crazy looking back at it. I think it went away around the time the Iphone 3g drop or a little bit afterwards.

Didnt Nextel have something like unlimited minutes to other nextel users no matter the time?

Textfree or whatever changed the game

Bruh, the iPhone changed the game.

It was literally the first phone that blew people away to be able to use the actual internet (not shytty mobile internet) on your phone. The ability to download apps and use it as an alternative changed the game. AT&T charged a mandatory $30 premium on their plans just to use data on the iPhone. Once the iPhone began coming on other platforms, then the moaning from companies about “power users” hogging and slowing down the network came to foray and “limits” were introduced.

Once companies saw how popular the iPhone was and how they much money they can make on data, they more or less bushed their limits on voice and text as the money wasn’t there anymore.

I worked for at&t during all this, charging per text became obsolete prior to those apps and iMessage becoming popular.

With the switch from 2g to 3g that brought along wireless data, so that became the new “cool thing” to nickel and dime. Anytime you opened a webpage on your LG Chocolate or downloaded a song on your Motorola Razor, you were being charged by the kilobyte (:mjlol:).

Free messaging became an incentive to bring you in, and it was much easier to maintain that high volume on 3g

Damn, I actually didn know that. An extra $30 is a crazy surcharge and I still believe that data limit caps are bullshyt and will eventually go away on mobile and internet. Like I got fiber and they immediately got rid of the data cap

Man, I know you saw lots of subs from those "pay .99 for this ring tone or $5 for this tomb raider side scroller *and $30 every month*" scams in magazines.

Used to just hold my phone to the TV during 106 and record lmaoooo
