till I got a 48000kbps connection
Then DSL came through and crushed the buildings...no more struggles after that

That's cause you had Cingular. They were the best. Free nights and weekends that started at 7pm instead of 9pm like everyone else. I had the 800min/500text plan with rollover. Would have at least a thousand minutes to rollover every month since I didn't talk that much on the phone. I would get the big plan for one month (1200min), talk mostly at night, then downgrade to 800 minutes, keep the rolled over minutes from the 1200min plan and be super solid. Finesse God
It was like having a house phone for my room. Talked to my gf whenever I wanted and never had to get off the phone because one of my parents got a call. I finally was allowed a cell phone towards the middle of jr high and never looked back. They were scamming with those early ringtones. I still remember getting the 'Thug Motivation 101' instrumental and it sounding like Chinese battle rap music when somebody called.
