Having "young players on the same timeline" is overrated. You need veterans on your team

But isn’t that the main recipe to create dynasties though, the warriors, the Tim Duncan spurs, the bulls, etc.
I would even add the current Celtics, not that they a dynasty but everything is possible cause of the core of Tatum and brown

Yea you make good vet signings to complete the puzzle but ideally you drafted a couple of young main pieces on a team to form the nucleus

The kd okc team is another example

3 SEASONS

ALWAYS BEING WRONG WITH
YOUR CHEST OUT
WHILE PRETENDING NOT
TO BE A CASUAL

I edited before your post

Point still stands that van Fleet didn’t instantly turn them into a playoff team like @UpAndComing suggested.

Neithrr did Adams 58 games at 13 mpg

But I am glad you are there to always correct the minor and not the point semantics with all of your chest.

Depends on the present goal of the team

If your priority right now is less making the playoffs and more player development, then bringing in a vet that’s trying to contend now and isn’t interested in being a mentor isn’t gonna fit.

Also, I think having Udoka helped a lot more than van Fleet.

Tim Duncan's first championship had this amount of veterans on the team

- David Robinson
- Mario Ellie
- Sean Elliot
- Steve Kerr
- Avery Johnson
- Jerome Kersey

Is this a serious post :dead:

I see so much online or on podcasts, "Well so and so player don't fit the timeline of this team".
I don't think that discussion is about role players like you mentioned, save for Kyrie and Horford.

No one said don't add Caruso he doesn't fit OKC's timeline.

Yeah that's where OP is off. You can mix veteran and young talent. The key is making sure it fits.

Situations where the mixing of talent doesn't work:
-If you have a veteran team fighting for a title don't sign a raw rookie that needs a lot of development.
-If you have a really young team you don't want to bring in a veteran that wants to be the star that will potentially slow the development of those young players because they still have aspirations of being a star.

Ideal situations for mixing it:
-Veteran team that could use a youthful burst of energy where the young player is ready to play.
-Young team with established stars where you bring in experienced veteran role players who are comfortable doing the dirty work to help open up the younger stars games.

No one believed they were legit championship contenders until this season. Keep dap fishing lol

Alot of teams get the #1 seed, get exposed and falter in the playoffs.... just like the Thunder did in the 2024 playoffs when they lost to the Luka Mavs in the 2nd round

All those teams the best players took significant steps up. If you were to replace van fleet with the 6th man of the year nothing changes for Houston.

the pistons literally had g league players playing last year. Cade took a significant jump this year

kyrie was literally one of the top 15 players when he came to Boston. He better make a playoff team a contender

shai is literally on the short list for best players in the league and was 2nd in mvp voting last season

tell vets to go To Portland or BK and lets revisit this thread lol
