most likely he chopped that shyt up to bits and pieces, and just kept fukkin around with the pitches til he was like ....or he mighta even down pitched the whole song and just let it play through til he heard that piece. that's a good method to stumbling ass backwards into shyt. just one turn of the pitch knob can be the difference between a classic beat and a wack one. but havoc is definitely one of the GOATS.

yup, i'm sure that's how a lot of beats are made. just playing around experimenting, playing with pitches, chopping, filtering, hitting the pads in different patterns and then then with all this sound manipulation, little quirks are created in the sound. use those quirks to create a vibe and you shape up a beat with the sound.
