I don't think all these spinoff shows will perform as well The Flash.
Color me shocked and surprised that the CW is backing a show centered around a black-ish woman. I don't know if their lilly white viewers will be down for this.

I am shocked by this news mainly because I figured if the CW was going to try and make another spin-off DC show they would just turn the already in development animated Vixen show into a live-action one.
As for the choice of Hawkgirl, I do understand why they chose her. The character's backstory hits all the shyt the CW likes. She has lived past lives (so they can flashback scenes/episodes from the ancient Egyptian times up to modern times), has a one true star-crossed love in Hawkman and they are doomed to always die violently once the two of them fall back in love and become a couple again (this immediately gives them a love triangle between Hawkman/Hawkgirl/Whoever her modern day boyfriend is); her parents were murdered by a corrupt cop when she was a kid so it gives CW yet another parent-less young woman with angst which is their bread and butter type of character.
