It's a shame that HBCU's weren't able to keep the top tier athletes at their schools. PWI came in and scooped them up and it's been on a decline ever since.

Being in Tallahassee, it's pretty crazy seeing the difference between FSU and Famu. You got FSU snapping up property for all kinds of apartment complexes. Plus that booster money is crazy, which leads to my second point.

Alumni support for HBCU's isn't all that great, at least not monetary wise.

Not only that, from what I hear a lot of HBCU's aren't that great when it comes to handling business. I can't speak on all of them, but as someone who is familiar with Famu, I know that Fam has had its fair share of problems.
Yeah I've heard this at all of them and at worse numbers than PWI. Southern was like this too that's why I was only there for a year but not just the money classes was janky at times too. They are good but at times they don't handle the business part well and honestly you can't have that.

Out of high school, my top two choices were FAMU and UF. UF gave me a full ride plus I like football:yeshrug:
I eventually want to go to law school and Howard is on my list but the coa:scust:
I want to go to Howard Law as top choice but $60k and they do have on-campus housing. Got to account for the summer.

Man, I've heard all types of stories from former ASU students.

Out of state students(mostly freshmen) thinking they paid to live on campus in the dorms, but once they arrive the school would put them in a run-down motel in downtown Montgomery. The shuttle bus from the hotel to campus would be late basically everyday if it came at all.

I talked about that before. All the big named schools are big because of sports and black athletes. These schools are funded because of black athletes; the university of alabama currently football program is valued at 93 million and the university of texas of austin is worth 129 million. Integration fukked up a lot of money for black people.

yeah I know there have been tons of articles saying this, but I just saw it for my own eyes.

I'm on biz travel near Hampton University, my alma mater, so I decided to drop in and talk to one of my old professors.

one of the main parking lots, we used to call Africa because it was so damn far, was completely empty

I then looked up the current enrollment...around 4300

The enrollment when I graduated in 2006 was 6300:damn::damn::damn:

I still believe HBCUs are necessary in America, especially in today's climate. Why is that we're turning our backs on the greatest source of black doctors, nurses, and engineers?
After seeing how those institutions folded on Cosby it's pretty clear that HBCUs ain't sh!t.

I try to steer everyone I can away from private hbcu's. Why accumulate that much debt when you can go to a state school and get the same if not better education and be that much further ahead when you graduate?

You gotta be a damn fool to pay 20k in tuition at Clark Atlanta a year when you can go to a state HBCU and pay 5k.

FSU

They don't have to do shyt like this now, because they've been building and renovating a shyt load of buildings, dorms, and New Stadium. But all this spending has caused another scandal about money, contracts, and potential bribes. shyts a mess over there.

Just last week ex ASU football coach Reggie Barlow and an ASU trustee got to throwing blows about his firing or some shyt like that.

nikkas stealing money.

I went to Grambling and every year we have a new president and folks stealing money; and the school has not progressed. Also, while I was in college Texas Southern had a big money problem with Priscilla Dean Slade stealing money and now she's working at Jackson State University. I still talk to my old chemistry professor and we both say these nikkas stealing the money and doing harm to these universities are really plants. If you look at Priscilla Dean Slade at Texas Southern she stole more than $650,000 of federal government money; because TSU is a public school. She only received 10 years of deferred adjudication, repayment of $127,672.18 to the school, and 400 hours of community service; any other time a black person steals government money you get fed time.

Another person named Quintin F. Wiggins; was working with Priscilla Dean Slade and was sentence to 10 years in prison. Priscilla Slade - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

These people working at HBCU's stealing money and getting no jail time; there informants and plants by whites.

I can't really comment on HBCU's in general but I know a few cats that went to Tuskegee and they were proud as sh*t of that school. They had their share of hood and party stories yet still managed to be very, very serious about their academics. They were really smart guys too. I'm not sure if this actually adds anything to the conversation
