The book focuses on everything from free masons to the royal family to the fukking Elephant Man. Hollywood turned it into a generic whodunnit thriller

That would be dope. The movie did drop the ball. The problem is Alan Moore is notoriously difficult to work with and most companies would rather not deal with him.
