They miscalculated, as opportunists they thought they could ride the wave of metoo and take down the massive fish that is Michael Jackson's legacy. They were never going to succeed but it is incredible to see how hard they failed and may have actually helped MJ by exposing these frauds and themselves.

My thing is this...I don't think MJ molested any kids...what he did was wildly inappropriate...but I don't think any molestation or anything close to that occurred. But with all of the grey area...it was beyond stupid to get behind this. Not that HBO or Oprah are journalists per say...I would like to think they had journalistic credibility that they would vet this more than they did.

I can understand the liars and Dan Reed putting this documentary together because they just wanted to make money...but what HBO and Oprah did was ill-fukking advised. Not sure why either would get behind this documentary despite all of the uncertainty and one-sidedness of it.
