Talk about supposed good TV but don't mention Too Old To Die Young aka the only tv-show to push what tv-shows could be, brehs.:skip:

By could be, do you mean Refn pulling the same trick of lathering the screen with moody colours and distilled dialogue to distract the viewer from seeing he has absolutely no aptitude as a storyteller?

:lolbron:
I don't think I've ever seen these two "pretentious" OGs interact before:lupe:

Succession was the only great HBO show this year. Barry was disappointing imo.
:gucci:
I have literally never heard it mentioned outside of this board. Not in real life not on Podcasts
You listen to the Joe Budden Podcast, breh? Snowfall was top 5 this year.

In short, yes. For a 'golden era' of tv I see a lot of the same shyt, there's barely any innovation or attempt to do something different. It's just overblown prestige drama after prestige drama.

Refn making the tv-show version of his audience alienating arthouse movies resulted in a vastly more interesting series than all these popular one trick pony show runners ever could. That's why HBO jumped onto his Maniac Cop show, they at least recognize the GOATness of NWR.

I forgot succession. Widely regarded as the best drama on TV. I haven't gotten into it yet.

You also didn't mention what I think was the best shyt on netfilx this year - Russian Doll, Dark, Money Heist, Elite, Mindhunter, Marianne, Green Frontier, 3%, S.T.

Succession is must watch!

Ya'll putting a little much on Watchmen due to it's Tulsa roots.

I'm intrigued but I can't with a straight face say I truly "like" it yet. Matter of fact, I'm only going this far because I don't have to pay for it :yeshrug:

And salute Silicon Valley’s swan song. Show remains funny after losing a central character to #metoo
Damn I didn't know he got got too. Dude is the same 1 note character in the few things I've seen him in. Just throws out random insults that stopped being funny after a while.

Has HBO ever had a dramatic show created by a Black person?
Not accusing them of anything but it is weird it has never happened.
