So here’s the deal: With limited info available, early reads give the returning Lil Wayne a smashing #1 debut with star-studded set Tha Carter V—the third-biggest of the year behind Drake (732k) and Travis Scott (537k). Cher’s bubbling batch of ABBA covers makes a splash, driven by a strong ticket bundle.

Not to be a hater but these numbers are the result of the album being delayed not the music. So I expect a big fall off.

In other news, this pretty much confirms Wayne’s mill the first week for his last two albums since Birdman ain’t involved in this release.

Wayne is the black Eminem in that hes got a generation of loyal fans that grew up off him in the 00s.

Whole south and midwest and milenials grew up off him so this is the not surprsing at all. Plus the Carter V took on this mythological status being held up so people were ready to support.
