I'm pretty sure if you get that implant you will have to use minoxidil for the rest of your life and if you stop the implanted hair will slowly go away.

Hair transplants don't work that way. Transplanted hair is permanent. The only hair susceptible to further loss post any transplant is the hair that is sensitive to DHT on the scalp, which is where DHT inhibitors post surgery come into play. Minoxidil can be added to speed up recovery and promote growth in weaker areas but it's not needed for maintenance of transplanted hair.
