I usually do intermittent fasting, only eating solid meals between 12pm-6pm. Other than that strictly water.

I'm thinking about doing fruit smoothies for breakfast instead.

Pros/Cons?

I'm gonna try it out and see if I can feel any difference, but wanted to get some other opinions also.

Thanks in advance :salute:

What’s the goal ? And your window can be whatever, if you want to have breakfast then at least wait til 9 then eat it you may desire a smaller lunch and maybe eat dinner sooner than 6

But do what makes you happy bruh and get your veggies and what not

fruits have a lot of sugar. berries have less. if you are into fasting, you may not want to spike your insulin first thing in the morning with extra sugar. maybe make it mostly veggies

this

OP are you actually hungry in the morning? If not, dont spike your insulin for no reason. Black coffee or green tea in the AM. That will last you till Noon when its time to break your fast.

Throw some kale or spinach in there and leave it to two fruits only. Also, use water as a base and not some type of fruit juice.

You are breaking the fast when you do that. But I don’t think anything is wrong with a post workout smoothie/shake. But remain cognizant that you are breaking the fast at that time.

If you start changing up the diet it is no longer what it is but it may work better for you try things out after a period of time change things up. Treat your body like a machine that transports your essence. It’s just another car or tool to get things done.

The goal is just overall heath and wellness, nothing really past that.

I hear that. I decided to use fruit because I get free fruit from my job and I enjoy the taste of fruit more, but I do add a spoonful of moringa.

I'm not hungry in the morning. I've been on the 12pm-6pm intermittent fasting for years, so my body is used to only water before lunch.

And green tea for breakfast wouldn't be considered breaking the fast?

That does not sound appetizing. I do use water as the base though.

It sounds like the sugar may not be the best thing in the morning.

But even if its sugar from a whole food (fruit) and not processed sugar?

The moment your body processes those carbs (even if it's from a good source like fresh fruit) you're no longer in a fast. If you're used to a 6 hour eating window and it's been working, why switch it up? Your window is long enough you can have that smoothie between 12pm-6pm.

I drink black coffee or tea without any sweetener This doesnt break my fast. I eat my first meal around 1-2pm.

I advise the first meal of the day should contain the most density and calories. Sleeping with less on the stomach motivates you to rise fresh as well as the whole cleaning thing.

Everything in moderation but that same sugar that’s naturally occurring also helps shuttle nutrients faster especially times when you need replenishment. I’m not saying put a bunch of dextrose into a shake but I’m saying adding in some fruits along with some other items in a smoothie post vigorous activity could have a positive impact on you.

But the main think is to continue to assess what’s working and what’s not. Doing this is how I found out that I am more productive if I have a post hunt (exercise) snack. But listen to your body because I don’t need it often but every few weeks I’ll do it.

I do a hybrid of Intermittent fasting along with the warrior diet. This allows you a bit of fluidity in your dieting.

I'm thinking of switching up because I want to get more vitamins and minerals in my daily diet.

I do the intermittent fasting but the two meals during the day are not that nutritious. And everything else is just water.

I do 12pm to 4pm

I use to end my eating window with a big smoothie, thick with half oatmilk. I like a bit of tangy citrus flavor to my smoothie so I pour Sweet and sour mixer to top it off.

I also added raw steel cut oats and 1-2 scoops of protein (Plant Based) to it to make sure my smoothie keeps me full for hours. it prolly takes me 30 to 40 minutes to finish my smoothies, because it's THICK and cold ass a bytch

I've found that I cant make a meal out of fat laden, calorically dense foods every day or my weight starts to creep up and fasting gets harder to do.
Pizza, Fried chicken or hot wings every day or even 3 days out the week will fukk up my progress so I save those for once a week splurge meals, even then I'm finishing off with a big ass smoothie or chopped salad before I cut off my eating window.

If I have Bacon or Hot Sausage for as my first meal, it'll be 3 peices at most and paired with a big ass bowl of oatmeal that has a 2lb pale of strawberries chopped up and poured on top for added fiber. Keeps me stuffed and even energy wise for at least 4 hours. by my next meal I cant even eat alot. I can do calisthenics for about an hour, fueled up off of this

Oatmeal without the fruit, grogy ass fukk, falling asleep in my chair

so yeah Oatmeal or a smoothie is how I get in my nutrition during a short eating windows, assuming i'm not already eating a balanced meal
