"Heaven" as it is clung to by most people these days, whether they are aware or not, is but a grand concept used as an escape from the aches and pains of their daily mischievious, empty and lonely lives.

This is something I'd like to hear other people's view point on. I was raised in the south in AME and Baptist churches. All my life I heard hell is full of pain suffering and darkness. But in heaven is a paradise, where the streets are paved with gold and you worship and praise God all day.Between the two you want to go to heaven. But the older I got I thought, why is it paradise just to go be a servant? Why would a spiritual being place so much value on a metal? I've also heard you can have all your desires? I want to have sex with many different women on the regular, can I do that? For you guys though. What is heaven to you or what has it been told to you what it is? What do you imagine it is like and what will you be doing?
In Revelation 21:4 it says And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Being in Heaven will be a wonderful experience for many. Jesus will be there who took the sin of the world upon His shoulders. Gold means so little the streets are paved with it. Walls are made of jewels. Absolute truth, mercy, love all waiting.
There are three Heavens. The 3rd (highest) will have God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit along with the Disciples. I'm sure those who have done a good work will be in the 2nd Heaven and those who believe (even deathbed converts) will be in the 1st Heaven.
Honestly, I would have no problem worshiping for eternity if that what it is. I'm not sure what will happen and can only speculate. I just want to go there.
I don't think price is the only thing that goes into decisions for building streets and walls but hey, I'm sure God is an experienced builder, after all, he did build the entire universe, which when you think of it he could have created enough gold and jewels to pave the whole world. Funny how he didn't eh?
There is more gold on earth but they have to pull it out. They know where it is but a large chunk of it is near fault lines.
Why would God build according to our arrogance? We can't do anything on our own but too often we demand things from an eternal being so we can prove how great we are.
I don't know. Why did he built heaven with gold and jewels then? You realise your own story leads you in logic holes and circles don't you?
It doesn't. On earth they are worth much. In Heaven they are worth little.
Why is gold worth more on Earth than in Heaven?
This is like having an argument with a child about fantasy worlds.
People are greedy and it is a market that can be controlled. Gold is valuable because a group of people say it's valuable.
If people are in Heaven for the gold and jewels they are their for the wrong reason.
This is like trying to describe a forest but someone can't see it cause of the trees.
Then why did God pave the streets with gold? And why would the people be interested in gold after death, because once they are in Heaven are they not perfect? So such things aren't necessary.
People in Heaven are not concerned with the gold. Only people on earth are worried about it. God and Jesus are going to be the focus there. No one uses the gold and jewels as Heavens main selling point. Maybe it's to show contrast and how what we value isn't valuable in the grand scheme of things.
