I expect :cena: to get the credit for HIAC (he probably added a few buys but I also think people bought it because they knew the Bryan/Orton feud was done after this and wanted to see who was going to win).
But once Survivor Series numbers are reported my guess is Big Show gets all the blame
WWE released its monthly business figures Tuesday. Included were preliminary PPV buys for the October PPVs - Battleground and Hell in a Cell.
Individual numbers are not available because WWE reported an average of 167,000 buys for the two events. However, WWE's chart shows Battleground drawing a paltry figure around/below 150,000 buys and Hell in a Cell doing better at around 200,000 buys.
Battleground featured the poorly-hyped Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton main event for the vacant WWE Title that ended with Big Show KO'ing both wrestlers. HIAC then featured Bryan-Orton with Shawn Michaels as special referee.
Last year's HIAC PPV, which was during Ryback's WWE Title quest, drew 199,000 buys, so this year's event should outdraw 2012 when the official numbers are reported in the Fourth Quarter earnings.
HIAC 2013 - more than 200,000 buys
HIAC 2012 - 199,000 buys
HIAC 2011 - 182,000 buys
HIAC 2010 - 210,000 buys
- In the chart below from WWE's monthly report, the October 2013 PPV events are plotted with the 2013 blue color.
