I played it. It wasn't that bad, but I enjoyed it.

In the beginning, it started out boring, almost put me to sleep until the weapons, outfit, combat part. That's when the fun started. I love the atmosphere, but I was expecting more of a sci-fi/Returnal-like experience, but not soul-like, too many soul-like games that burned me out. Yes, the combat in the tutorial section seemed a little basic, but I can't wait to see how it evolves over the course of the game. The puzzle was so simple and meh. I would cop it on a sale, not day one.

Edited: By the way, Death Stranding in the title should be removed it.

Played the demo with no knowledge of the game what so ever.
60 fps feels incredibly smooth. Almost like 120 fps. I was impressed right off the jump.
Unfortunately that was all I was impressed with.
The world feels dull and empty.
The dialogue is mid.
The character movement almost reminds me of Skyrim in 3rd person.
Combat- I had no idea this was a souls like game. Immediately disappointed.
Enemies feel uninspired.
Puzzle elements were boring.
In some ways, its like they tried to emulate the Destiny format of running from this relatively open area to another to reach a "dungeon" with puzzles, loot, and enemies.
I'll be uninstalling the demo tonight and will likely never play the game again.
It's 2025 and we still do matching symbol puzzles... Lord GTFO out of here with that

It's way more Control than DS.

I completed the demo I enjoyed it for what it is I initially thought the navigation design would bug the hell out of me (no pun intended) but it wasn’t that bad. Can you fight a boss in the demo as I didn’t get one and kept thinking I might have missed something?

Just spent 4 hrs on the demo and enjoyed it quite a bit. I wouldn't even call the combat souls like from my experience. You do have to manage your stamina so you can't just run into a battle just button mashing. But I actually enjoyed that there wasn't a physical map which made me explore the world and find stuff that I probably would have missed just staring at a mini map. The puzzles weren't too bad either. But I'll pick it up when it releases. It's different so I'll give it a shot. We need more variety out there

Unfortunately people suffering from permanent brainrot (@MeachTheMonster) just say every third person action game is a "soulslike".

People that played the game in this thread are calling it a “souls-like”

Did you just want some attention from me beloved?:noah:

Yeah I was confused. The combat isn't even challenging but there is some depth to it. But I was nowhere close to dying my whole playthrough and the hits you take don't deplete your health that much especially since you can get some of the health back during combat. But that's people trying to place a label on a game which can hurt or diminish it. I'm glad I tried it because if it was a souls like I probably wouldn't have preordered it due to burnout with that style of game

Great reviews, seems like it hits its intended audience. Once I get through Silksong this is up next
