I definitely see the argument for people liking the remix more. P’s verses were better on the OG to me tho

The original is just better all around to me. Even the feel of it is darker. Remix was great tho.

The OG Quiet Storm was definitely on a Clue Tape back in 1998 or something like that. I think it was called White Lines. No hook, totally mixed different. Then Loud moved from RCA to Columbia, which led to Murda Muzik being leaked in entirety. I believe the remix was in part a reaction to the album leaking as they (Rifkind/Lighty) needed a single to promote the album release. It's Mine was also recorded after the leak. There's also a video of the original and remix. The original was super gutter. The remix was glossed by Hype.

HNIC was released a year after that...don't think Quiet Storm would've survived the HNIC album unless they pushed Murda Musik out into the 2000s and released HNIC in 99.

I do like the Remix as well but the OG is the ONE! The Original Quiet Storm with all three verses from P is a classic and one of the best Mobb Deep songs IMO. That set off the hype for Murda Muzik.

Yep.

One of the things that estranged him from Havoc, and partly why his solo work started becoming better than his Mobb Deep contributions, is Hav strong arming Quiet Storm from him.

Havoc was guilty of a lot of things, but taking that track for Murda Muzik wasn't one of them, that was the label / management (Jonathan Lighty).
