Don't take this advice. Sure it will have the look but keeping up Linux desktops requires a certain skill, desktop environment or not.
You don't want a small screen, and you want quality but your budget is a grand. You gonna have to adjust your requirements.
Based on your budget though I'd say go get a m1 macbook air. Great quality screen, great multimedia playback and very, very fast. Just has a 13in screen though

truth, linux messes up easily as the repositories usually go bad, no for newbies but with that said...

I've only had it for 5 days but so far so good, the only thing i have heard that may be an issue with these laptops(older version r2 and r3's) are that the batteries may go bad after 2-3 years but i got warranty so I'm good there

if all you are doing is watching stuff, i cant see how that is a problem. people are watching 4k on all kinds of weak little devices.

im not familiar with that one, but everybody seems to run away from HP computers.
