That's pretty much 60% of buisnesses in america cause of this pandemic. And what about the buisnesses in all the places that aren't major cities? Also a buisness can pay more than minimum wage if they want, I think most do here in Florida,

But I don't think it'll make much of a difference because in 2025 15$ will be worth more like 10$ now cause of our monetary system making all this shyt pointless in the first place.
Well, the pandemic puts everything in flux but you don’t push off the laws because of that - you pass a damn stimulus bill.

The real question is why are YOU torn on this?

Are you a business owner? Do you make minimum wage?

If the answers to both of those are no, then why does this thread even exist?

Vote the choice that doesn't prevent grown adults from making damn near slave wages for their labor.

I hear you but

I’m not saying you should be balling, but if a adult works 40 hours a week, then they should be able to afford housing for themselves and a self sufficient lifestyle in America.

I agree..if Florida, according to the first response in this thread...that is $12.xx

I would 100% vote yes on that. I'm hung up because $15 really is a lot in most of the State.

No and no. But voting yes would increase the CoL.. because these businesses aren't going to take the L. They'll just pass the costs along to the customers.

So, it will effect me.

That's another neoliberal talking point that doesn't take into account that a raised wage means those people will be buying more goods and services from all the companies also. They can raise wages and stay profitable.

I appreciate y'all thoughts.

Reading some of the responses got me thinking... particularly the one about the future value of our currency.

With that mind, I found this calculator:

2025 Inflation Prediction | Future Inflation Calculator

And the results convinced me to vote yes.

Reason being...I support a $12.xx minimum wage right now. With 3% inflation, that's almost $15 by 2025.

:yeshrug:

Seems fair.

it's way cheaper to do business in FL than CA - real estate/leases don't cost as much, more favorable taxes, they have much more wiggle room to absorb this increase over time, even if you have to pay a little bit more....in 2026 :comeon:

Or cut staff...

Making $8.56 is better than making $0.00, especially if you live in a state with no income rape tax...
