Ive narrowed down my choices to either an 08/09 Audi A5/S5 coupe

or a 05/06 Porsche 997 Carrera

Im trying to keep it under 30k . Thats a stretch for the porsche as those years usually go for ~35 but i figured if im a bit patient it can be had for a tad over my budget.

Either car ill have a few grand saved up for mishaps. I know most replys will be blahzay blah the porsche will sodomize me with maintenance. But lets be real here unless you bought a lemon for the most part maintenance will be relegated to oil changes brake pads maybe a trinket to replace here and there. with the major service only happening every few years.

I also thought about the E92 BMW but outside of the M3 the looks are bland, and its a tugboat (ive driven one). G37 ive thought about too but ive already owned a nissan:heh: (coming from an '08 Z)

As far as aesthetics porsche clearly blows them all away, and the name alone is a different bracket:ehh: Plus im dying to get that porsche driving experience.
It seems like every young boy pushes an Audi these days and Audi interiors are trash and looks too busy IMO (may not agree, but its my opinion:manny:), something i can get over though.

Idk any thoughts or experiences to share?

Im leaning more towards the audi lately, the idea of owning the porsche scares me:patrice: but im thinking if im already spending what id spend for the audi why not get something i truly love:manny:

We could go back n forth about your choices and some of the cons you've pointed out in regards to cars you've ruled out,but long story short. Get the Porsche if u can,it sounds like it's the car you want.

go with the A5 since that shyt still looks current. compared to the new 911s, that Carrera in the pic you posted looks dated even tho Porsche's design strategy is evolutionary but the driving dynamics will still be there nevertheless. At the end of the day, the decision is about how you feel behind the wheel.

nikkas still buying old euro cars. No hate but you probably should have about 10k saved up if you go with either

Old doesn't matter to me. Euros have a classic look that for the most part are timeless. I would've bought a '97 993 over either if they weren't so expensive.

Is this a daily driver?

Yea daily driver.

Idk IMO the audi looks a bit more dated cause the facelifted version they changed the headlights.

I live in NYC and you just don't see Porsches (in regular/gentrified neighborhoods at least) I've only seen a 991 once in fort greene. So the 997 still looks like "the" new one. It's only the tails that may give away it's age. Provided I don't do the swap to look like the facelifted:scheme:

Has anybody here driven either or?

Obviously for an ultimate decision I'll take both for a spin, but can anybody share driving experiences of both or one?

the audi is 3800lbs:flabbynsick:. I won't be able to whip it properly on a test drive but hopefully it doesn't feel like a big bertha like the e92?

Yea daily driver.

Then definitely NOT a Porsche ... If it was a 2nd or 3rd car yea, the the Audi is a built daily driver that will give you less problems, it's is also a newer car and you are worried about costs, the Porsche is going to run you much more money in the longrun to maintain with expensive parts.
