I have insurance. It wasn't my fault, but won't my insurance go up if I report it?

yeah, but this dude could just not be a scumbag about it. chick hit me a month ago, and she called hers and they reached out to me. didnt have to call my insurance once, they dont even know about it

They were probably hoping that she'd go through her insurance and not theirs, it saves the person responsible from having a claim and reported accident on their driving record. A lot of people are generally ignorant about how their insurance works but good thing your person was honest.
