Dope ass album. Summer 96 was one for the books
:wow:

I remember that Source 3 mic rating for Da Shinin too. It was reviews like that that made them nikkas wanna switch up their sound when it came time for the BCC album

Outshined by Black Moon and Smiff and Wessun albums. and by OGC on the collab singles

Listened to this once, and thought it was mid at best

Nocturnal is my favorite summer album of all time and easily in my top 10 hip-hop albums of all time. I'm legit shocked to hear this coming from you. You're one of the most knowledgeable and deeply rooted hip-hop heads on this board. I can't fathom how you didn't feel this classic. It's borderline better than Enta Da Stage IMO. I definitely play it more than that album, and Buckshot is my favorite MC of all time. I can play Nocturnal straight through with zero skips.

Above the fray.
Compared to the previous albums out of their camp, and the other albums and mixtapes that came out around that time it was certainly mid.

Thanks,
Recently threads have been put up about the albums that came out in that era , and you put up a Funk Master Flex show recording from the year this album came out.

A handful of hip hop release years were like loaded NBA draft years, and that decade had a bunch of them. LOT OF HEAT.

I never felt that group, HS, and thought that Starang was the best in the Fab Five, and that Smiff and Wess and BM had better albums.
