Steve Bannon‘s one-time protégé, Milo Yiannopoulos, sailed into the alt-right sunset earlier this year, thanks to a video that showed the self-styled firebrandseeming to endorse pedophilia.
The backlash over these comments were swift. He was disinvited from CPAC, lost his job at Breitbart News and had his forthcoming memoir cancelled by publisher Simon & Schuster.
The book, titled “Dangerous,” was allegedly close to being finished and he had been advanced a healthy sum of $250,000 for its publication, but Yiannopoulos felt it was worth much more than that. He sued the publisher for, wait for it, $10 million dollars, a lawsuit Simon & Schuster called “publicity driven.”
Now, however, thanks to his lawsuit, much of their debacle has become a matter of public record, including a manuscript of the aforementioned memoir.
A software engineer, Sarah Mei, has done us all a solid and unearthed not only the manuscript itself, but each of the editor’s notes. These notes are harsh, direct and hilarious. Please note, the book’s editor was Mitchell Ivers, who is no stranger to the world of conservative publishing, having edited manuscripts by President Donald Trump, Michelle Malkin, Ben Shapiro and more. Each of these authors were, after a certain number of drafts, given the “go ahead” by Ivers, though “Dangerous” seems so far from meeting his standards as to be laughable.
Here are some of his best editor’s notes.
Poor Ivers had to inform Yiannopoulos there was “no semen” in a factually incorrect paragraph.
"Let’s leave fecal waste out of this chapter.”
“Lets leave cuck out of it.” No, not cuck!
The chapter on how “ugly people” are attracted to the left did not sit well with the renowned editor.
There’s also the matter of the alleged narcissism of the author.
