I knew not having enough food for everybody was a myth when my fam always went to buffets when I was a kid

Overpopulation isn't a myth, however it's not really an issue in Africa (for the most part) and certainly isn't why most African countries are poor.
But it's pretty hard to argue that someplace like China doesn't have issues with population growth. While the "one child" policy was carried out pretty heinously and led to some tremendously ugly things, had the government not done anything to stem population growth it's likely there would've been famines.
And, while you can argue what it is, you'd be naive to think that there isn't a certain population level that will strain Earth's resources.
That said, the only long term solution is for poor countries to get richer. First world countries are pretty stable in terms of population because there's incentive to have fewer kids. In fact, if not for immigration the population of the US would grow very slowly.
But it's pretty hard to argue that someplace like China doesn't have issues with population growth. living in a tidy studio apartment isn't much different than a jail cell. the Earth's population should be capped at a maximum of 100 million. we should all be self sufficient with enormous farms and plenty of personal space

Theresa Okafor is a Catholic and head a pro-life organization Life League of Nigeria. She promotes abstinence before marriage and mutual fidelity during marriage. Her grandfather was a polygamist and had seven wives who all practiced fidelity.
Europe has a fertility rate of about 1.5 children per woman instead of the 2.1 figure Okafor gives. Africa is the only major area with left with fertility rates of 4 to 6. Here's the data from the CIA:

If people only occupy 1% of the earth like she says then she must be including the oceans and the Antarctica. GDP growth doesn't mean that everyone will have their basic needs met.
Okafor is against contraception. She spouts the usual Catholic mantra, but I agree with her that the values of one culture should not be pushed on another. She would be shocked to know that education and employment automatically lowers the fertility rate without any particular agenda.
