:beli: More subservient shyt??

Yo man...this some bullshyt! They doing this honestly I feel to reinforce black inferiority someway and the exploitation of black folks. It's sad and telling when these are the most prominent roles for black actors in an already marginalized situation in the industry.
It's like hollywood will never accept movies about strong black people who are in control of their lives and kick ass and take names. That are actually 3 dimensional characters.

Honestly, when Obama was elected, I was expecting more positive entertainment involving black people..more black heroes and heroines..more dynamic roles...actual black entertainment...and we just get a bunch of slave movies and this shyt. It's like things are going backwards while going forward. And there's a show called "southern charm" now (I saw it on the train) about rich white people living on a southern plantation like RHOLA now? Seriously, Hollywood and the academy to me just wants to drag black folks through the mud in their own way and reward them for doing it. Where are the alternatives for this? The fact there aren't shows how bullshyt hollywood is.

Hollywood isn't for black people IMO. Spike Lee was right when he said that more black directors and production companies needed to come out of the woodwork and more black people in hollywood needed to pull their resources together. Why? So they don't have to be cast in roles like these and that these roles wouldn't be in such prominence. And make our own positive entertainment. Perception builds reality. I'm not relying on white people to manufacture anything honest or positive involving black people in the media...because when I think they would...they do this. It's almost like the industry shaming black people in a way.

I was OK with 12 Years a Slave and The Help. These were narratives written by those involved and are more like historical texts. This shyt is just jumping on the bandwagon of that subservient black people shyt.
How the fukk do you have a prequel made like 80 years after Gone With the Wind came out?:dwillhuh: I understand the movie is considered one of the best movies ever made (I don't know, haven't seen it) but this is that shyt they do with those teen movies. Have a vampire movie come out then 4 more copies come right after. I'd expect more to be on their way too.

I was actually expecting the exact opposite when Obama first got elected. I knew that the racial tension in Murica was going to get worst. I knew whites were going to use Obama as a "get out of racism free card".

Man....which ever actress takes this role should be shunned and ostracized by the black community in every community, country and all walks of life.

Kate Williams was saying something similar to that. And I agree with him. Blacks who take degrading movie roles in Hollywood would be exiled if it was up to me.

this is why we need our own media if we want to have some variety with black actors/cinema WE HAVE TO DO IT!!! cacs will never put black actors In non stereotypical roles they have been doing this since birth of a nation so to them this is business as usual its time take action and create our own shyt no more relying on cacs to represent our history our people the right way WE HAVE TO DO IT !!!!!!
