People can type whatever junk they want, it doesn't matter though. People seem to forget that during those great black power times, entertainment wasn't great in those times.

It was just some generic basic shyt in those days, electronic media was not big and if you go way back nothing today was in existence like tv, video games, movies etc so it was easier to get shyt done.

Now we got all this crazy distractions and fake comfort/integration, so people don't want to give that up for no black unity.

I'm just saying though for us to get this done, "all entertainment" has to be thrown to the bushes because all this shyt you are typing looks good on paper but in reality, it's just a fairy tale.

Entertainment/Power has taken over all facets of society, how can you really stop this?

You say it like its something that will happen if we just want it bad enough.

I can't even take some of this stuff seriously. It'd be nice to have. It'd be amazing. But a black base? Man - look, there's no base for the Black American. We do however have the ability to use that as a positive. I've been around the world enough to know that the Black American is truly one of the most copied things in modern existence so how about this - instead of trying to copy everyone else who didn't have their identify stripped upon mass relocation, we highlight that we're not tied to anything anymore and truly, confidently adaptable to all circumstances instead?

We don't owe America anything as a people. Why stay? As Black Americans to other Black Americans we can at least encourage education and other certain quality priorities like your parts of your first post mentioned.

Some of the stuff you're saying is essentially fantasy though.

Believe me it can and will happen, but it takes steps. To be real, the rest of the black world is just waiting on us to kick the revolution off.

It's not fantasy, it just takes that crucial step which will set the other things in motion. I can't decide upon which step should be first.

All due respect and that is part of it, but we also need the other solutions I list imo.

I agree, however I think the group economics part of it is really the "action" part of it and will yield the most results. The other aspects are more of a mentality and intellectual aspect of it, but it won't create more jobs for our people unlike group economics. However, it is important that we shift our role models from rappers and athletes onto others. We need knowledge of self, for instance i'm really glad my parents taught me about all the black inventors who created a lot of things we use and take for granted today. Most people have no idea black people created so many things we use on a daily basis, they just assume it was created by whites, which is part of the problem.

Nope, entertainment today is more powerful than people. Back in the day before electronic media, people were more powerful than everything.

Something you touch upon...entertainment and how it enslaves us.

Many of us are slaves to entertainment, even myself though I am slowly breaking free of it. A couple years back, I couldn't miss any nfl games or nba championship games. This year I've found I f on care as much. I've missed many games.

We need other black people to be prepared to do the same.

i know it take writing down stuff 1st to get it put into action
but you see a lot of pandering for daps on this forum

we got a black president, how much more of a crucial step do you need to see? :stopitslime:

For those ready to jump - I'm never giving up on the Black community, but I'm honest enough to see it for what it is. Disjointed, fukked up priorities, struggling, misguided, kicked repeatedly and blamed for anything. You gotta be honest about this kinda thing. Moving to Rwanda and making a Neo Black Hong Kong is sooooooooooooooooooooooo ridiculous when all you need to say is

"education"

That's the biggest thing by far. So many people don't even know how bad off they are, how many opportunities they're missing, how to stay out of the line of America's fire, how to start making things work for themselves and their own.

That's step 1.

No need to downplay how big of a step that is by jumping into all this other fantasy shyt.

Corny as it sounds, you really gotta be the change you want to see.
Instead of lamenting what others may or may not do...you really should focus on positivity and making the changes you want to make.

Tearing down other ideas or other people for their laziness only serves to shoot these goals in the foot, so to speak.

Nobody is tearing anybody down or discouraging anybody. Majority of Black people will never sacrifice looking good for anything in 2014.

I'm just keeping it real.

We want to be seen in a good light 100% of the time rather than suffer in harmony/unity and be where we need to be.

I was going to post something along the lines of this but was thinking about how to fully articulate it. We either unplug (impossible) or find a way to flip what is currently a liability for us into an asset. Thinking about "black twitter" for example, it's brought us both that shameful black history meme AND some pretty funny critiques of the mainstream media's coverage of "black" issues on that "ABC News" (I think) tag that was trending.

I do think there's this strange cultural dynamic in the younger black American community where caring about something, or being invested and vocal about something, is dismissed as corny. It's not unique to black America but seems really virulent with us. I'm not sure how we defeat it. Obviously, 1 by 1, family by family we should raise our kids to think differently, but that takes generations and is too passive to me. I'm just not entirely sure how we better leverage social media to turn it into a weapon for us rather than having it be a sedative for us like it currently seems to be. :patrice:
