I know a few people that I watched with wanted Reed to be a supernatural being, but that really would of fukked up the film messaging about religion.

9/10, i have no notes @Mr Hate Coffee

i do like some sleaze in my movie, its there but you have to find it. I like it to be out in the open.

i don't need to watch a two hours movie to learn the point of religion and these third act surprises getting kind of played up but i enjoyed the story that they were telling

This is so piff.

I had my eyes on the screen the whole time.
I always thought that Hugh Grant was underrated.

It was a deus ex machina moment when ol'girl with the slit throat had strength to swing a nail board in Mr. Reed's face but I will accept it
That's all based on what interpretation you have as a viewer; i.e. if you go through the door of Belief or Disbelief.

You either believe in the miracle where Sister Barnes was able to conjure up the strength to kill Mr.Reed, or you don't believe that happened, at all, and Sister Paxton was killed by Mr. Reed when he puts the dagger to her throat, hence the layering of The Butterfly Dream at the end, where they both end up dead.

I took that as something that was supposed to be ā€œmiraculous.ā€ Something that seemingly defies rationale explanation, but could have a viable explanation. It’s kind of a tease from the writer, like, see—there is a god! Wait, is there?

Love the context of the film, it honestly mimicked my journey within religion in my late teens/early 20s. I thought last act was underwhelming, but there's seemingly subtext I missed there so I'll have to go back to it.

I'll give it a 7 out 10, but if I rewatch, probably can bump it a point higher.

I thought Topher Grace was going to have a bigger part than what was shown.
