He's not perfect, but where does Tariq Nasheed stand with you as a black voice in the media?

1. Format matters. The information is public but not in a format that is enticing to most Blacks. Is Neil DeGrasse Tyson's Cosmos worthless?

2. And can you show me the misogyny? I have yet to see Tariq generalize behavior to Black women as a whole.

No, I recognize Neil to be brilliant, even if I don't agree with everything he says. So I am very capable of that. Tariq on the other hand, is actually an idiot.

2...come on now are you serious? I will play your game though. Is HC 1 anywhere on Youtube? I will actually watch that drivel again tonight just to point out some exact moments of misogyny if not more specifically misogynoir.

Your issues lie with Black academics, miss. Tariq has come up with a blueprint, he just isn't the most qualified to make use of its full potential. Imagine if Cornel West, Henry Gates, Angela Davis,Melissa Harris-Perry, etc... took Tariq's approach instead of bowing to PBS, Discover and MSNBC?

If you mean get to the masses and be grassroots about it, I would love for them to :ohlawd: I had high hopes for Dyson in that regard for a minute.

?

tariq has admitted to being a misogynist. not by standard definition, but in the sense that these women call any guy that checks them on their bullshyt a misogynist.

no, that's YOUR summary of tariqs pro-black activism. which still has nothing to do with your claims about HC3. lets try to stick to that topic instead of jumping all over the place. have you seen HC3?
Even HC1 or HC2 has nothing about oppressing Black women or keeping them in the background.

You criticized the format so naturally you should have issues with The Cosmos? You are actually mad at Tariq for utilizing an effective method for outreach to Blacks who don't "seek" knowledge :russ:

What is stopping Michael Eric Dyson from doing a similar documentary with better academics, entertainers and with better production quality?

And MORE people NEED to jump in the market and put out competing films against HCs. Its the only way we get crisp, accurate films from the most credible sources. It just has to be Black funded and bought or it defeats the point.

This thread is about him period though. My first comment was about him period, until Poitier brought up Real Housewives and Scandal in an attempt to defend Hidden Colors. I don't even take that dumb thing seriously, so I certainly didn't bring it up.

No, you're strawmanning. I said the issue is that he makes things up and passes it off as fact to naive laymen who don't know any better. And you've agreed there are unsubstantiated theories in his "documentary" but try to save him by saying that he doesn't pass them off as fact. He also coats his documentary with harmful beliefs about women to make it more popular to the audience he's selling it to and what they want to hear.

The other people you mentioned are more likely to provide truth backed by facts so that is why I wouldn't mind them being grassroots to reach more people. Because they'd actually be doing it with the truth and not poverty pimping and fanning the flames of a gender war.

Like I said, provide me with a link to HC1 and I'll point out examples of his misogyny when I get back.

I don't watch any of those shows except for Scandal. And that show never advertises itself as fact, unlike the atrocious lie-filled movies Tariq passes off as historical documentaries to get in Black men who are desperately looking for leadership's pockets.
Name the lies in HC3?

lets try this again. take off ya tap dancing boots, and explain the lies in HC3

But they aren't doing it.

The NOI was a fukkED UP Black organization founded by a man with no education and mistreatment of women but guess what? It laid the foundation for much better Black organizations.

Those who do aren't always reputable thinkers but they can spur those who only think to actually do. Lets hope more Black people enter the Black history, psychology, sociology infotainment film market.

some of those twitter feminists that go after tariq have inflated egos just because they have a couple thousand twitter followers and get a bunch of retweets.

they think that being black & a woman gives them carte blanche to talk reckless and they shouldnt be challenged when they say some bullshyt. no one is above reproach

Umm how about no. I have a very fulfilling life outside of the internet unlike some. I'm not about to put my activities on hold for you.

Post the link I'll give examples when I get back like I said.

He could and should. However he likely would not have the same type of rabid following from the same type of people because he wouldn't coat some facts and lots of theories in misogyny to make them feel better about their issues. In that way, his reach just couldn't be as wide. I agree that more academics need to enter into this sphere though.
